Comparison

Echo Booking vs Pearla

By Alex Le, Echo product teamUpdated July 2026

Pearla is a dental-specific AI receptionist with the widest named PMS list in the category, including Open Dental, Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Eaglesoft, Curve, Denticon, OrthoTrac, and Dolphin. Echo Booking covers fewer dental systems today but answers in 70+ languages against Pearla's English and Spanish, handles email and intake forms, and checks insurance benefits before the visit (beta).

This is the cleanest trade-off in the dental AI receptionist market. Pearla's integration list is genuinely broader than Echo's, and if your practice runs Denticon, OrthoTrac, or Dolphin, that difference decides the evaluation before anything else is considered. If your practice runs Open Dental, Dentrix, or Dentrix Ascend, both vendors write into your system and the comparison moves to languages, channels, and what happens with insurance.

How to read this. Echo Booking publishes this page and is one of the products in it. Every competitor claim was read from that vendor's own website and carries the date it was verified, listed at the bottom. These are stated capabilities, not a ranking, a rating, or a test result, and vendors change what they publish, so confirm anything decision-critical directly with them.

The recommendation

Which one to choose

Choose Pearla if…

  • Your practice runs Denticon, OrthoTrac, or Dolphin. Pearla states integrations with all three and Echo integrates none of them, which settles it.
  • You are on Eaglesoft or Curve Dental and need write-back today rather than when Echo's integration ships.
  • English and Spanish cover your entire patient population, and you want a dental-only vendor.

Choose Echo Booking if…

  • Your patients speak more than English and Spanish. Echo handles 70+ languages today; Pearla lists the rest as coming soon.
  • You want detailed benefits questions answered rather than routed back to your front desk. Pearla explicitly directs those to staff; Echo runs an eligibility and benefits check before the visit (beta).
  • You need email and web intake forms handled by the same agent, not just calls and SMS confirmations.
  • A signed BAA before the first patient call is a procurement requirement. Pearla states HIPAA compliance but does not explicitly mention a BAA.
  • You run medical alongside dental.

For the record

What Pearla states about itself

Every line below was read from Pearla's own website on the date shown, and is left in its own terms. What the site does not state is recorded as plainly as what it does, because a silence on a marketing page is evidence about the page rather than about the product: treat the right-hand column as questions to put to Pearla, not as verdicts.

  • Dental-specific: answers calls and sends SMS confirmations 24/7, with booking logic that understands hygiene and recall patterns.
  • Integrates with Open Dental, Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Eaglesoft, Curve, Denticon, OrthoTrac, and Dolphin, scheduling in real time against operatory and provider availability.

What it does not state

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish), with more languages listed as coming soon.
  • On insurance it confirms whether you accept a plan and explains general coverage, then directs detailed benefits questions to your front desk.
  • A signed BAA isn't explicitly mentioned on its site.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Yes, on its stated list. Pearla names Open Dental, Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Eaglesoft, Curve, Denticon, OrthoTrac, and Dolphin. Echo's live two-way integrations are Open Dental, Dentrix, and Dentrix Ascend, with Eaglesoft, Curve Dental, and Oryx in progress, and it does not integrate Denticon, OrthoTrac, or Dolphin at all. If you are on one of those three, Pearla is the better fit.

They do different things. Pearla confirms whether you accept a plan and explains coverage generally, then sends detailed benefits questions to your front desk. Echo runs an eligibility and benefits check as part of booking, currently in beta, returning coverage, frequency limitations, deductible, and remaining maximum before the visit. Whether that matters depends on how much of your front desk's day currently goes to verification.

Pearla states it is bilingual in English and Spanish, with more languages listed as coming soon. Echo handles 70+ languages on the same line today. For most dental practices English and Spanish is sufficient; for practices in multilingual metros it is not.

Pearla states full HIPAA compliance with encryption in transit and at rest, and says no patient information is used to train external models. A signed Business Associate Agreement is not explicitly mentioned on its site, which is worth confirming in writing if your group requires one. Echo executes a signed BAA before the first patient call.

Both can book specialty dental appointment types. The difference is the system of record: Pearla names OrthoTrac and Dolphin, which are common in orthodontic and surgical practices. Echo does not integrate those, so on such a system it answers every call, follows your booking rules, and hands your front desk a confirmed booking to enter rather than writing it into the chart itself.

Every Pearla claim here was read from pearla.ai and carries the verification date shown at the bottom of this page. Integration lists in particular change quickly, so confirm your own system directly with the vendor before deciding.
