What is Unscheduled treatment?

Unscheduled treatment is dentistry a patient has been diagnosed with, and often accepted, but has not booked. It sits in a practice management report and represents work the practice has already done the hard part of: the diagnosis and the case presentation.

It accumulates for a mundane reason. A patient leaves the operatory with a treatment plan while the front desk is checking three other people out, so nothing gets scheduled at the counter. Two weeks later it is a line in a report nobody has time to work.

It is usually the largest recoverable pool of production in a dental practice, and unlike new-patient marketing it costs nothing to acquire, only something to follow up on.
