What is CDT code?
A CDT code is a procedure code from the Current Dental Terminology set maintained by the American Dental Association. Every dental procedure billed to insurance carries one, and they are what a dental claim, a fee schedule, and an eligibility response are all expressed in.

CDT codes are why dental insurance verification is not simply medical verification with different words. Frequency limitations, downgrades, and waiting periods are all defined per code, so knowing whether a patient is covered means knowing whether this particular procedure is covered for them right now, not whether they have dental insurance.
